I bought this item for work so folks in my area can scoot around campus to make meetings or deliver stuff. Now that it's together I'm pleased, it rides well and the brakes are good quality.

However, getting to that stage took more time that I expected. The box was pretty beat up, and there is little padding inside to protect the bike. The front reflector was in pieces. The fenders are pretty warped, but do fit. The main problem was that the back fork was too narrow. Either they made it too tight when they manufactured it or it took a serious bump. Regardless, I ended up filing the inside of the fork on both sides, and I had to manhandle the fork apart to get the back wheel to set in place, with the help of a hammer.

There was something wrong with the valve on the back tire. The front tire filled fine with my small compressor at home, but the head couldn't properly depress the pin on the valve on the back tire. Luckily my son left his upright hand pump at home so I used it, but I had to really force the air into the back tire to get it up to pressure.

I am tall (6'4") and the handle bar height is not adjustable, making for a slightly uncomfortable ride for me.

I also noticed that the website listed for the manufacturer was defunct.

With my weight and the high battery capacity, I can do a round trip anywhere within an 8 mile radius, no problem. And it doesn't dribble along at 10 mph, it screams at a good 20 to 25 mph.

It is "just right" for the city dweller in my opinion... small enough to be stored indoors, chained up like a bike, and drive on the sidewalk. But it is large enough and fast enough to be driven like a low end motorcycle. In fact, I know people who are deathly afraid and intimidated by motorcycles, and they LOVE this thing. It can do any sort of travel that would normally be reserved for a bike, segway, or motorcycle.

On the subject of price, if you're going to spend several hundred dollars on a scooter, you might as well spend that 10% or 20% extra and get 50% more for your money. Something that will last and perform when you need it. (And it is insanely FUN to boot!)

The only weakness is water, being electric it cannot be run in rain. I would totally pay for a higher end version of this scooter if it had some water resistance and maybe more features/options. Maybe an ability to shift gears on the fly like a 10 speed bike.

I'm in college. I'm 5'3" and weigh 118 pounds. This scooter is the perfect size for me. In fact, like another reviewer who is my height said, my feet almost don't touch the ground when I'm sitting on the seat. So please keep that in mind if you are thinking of purchasing this scooter for a child.

This scooter is powerful and fast. It easily makes it up average hills. It will not climb steep hills but you can help it along by kicking.

The battery lasts a long time for me. I haven't kept time, but I can make it around town and back and still have charge left. It's easy to combine coasting and power to make the battery last longer.

The handlebars don't adjust in height. It's a big scooter. It weighs 60 pounds. You will need to leave it outside when you reach your destination, so you'll need a good lock.

It needs to charge for at least 12 hours when the battery is low. Unfortunately, there is no battery indicator.

I love the color. It is pink with little flowers and super cute. I receive compliments about it all the time.

I attached a removable wire basket to the seat post (it faces backwards). You may want to consider one, too, because it's handy when you need to carry books, groceries, etc.

The scooter is great fun! It's good for the environment, too. I would totally recommend it to other college students. I use this for quick errands and then take the bus or carpool if I need to go somewhere farther.

I would also recommend it to teenagers who can't drive yet because you don't need a license for this and the freedom you gain is priceless.

Cheap Xootr Mg with Fender - Black

I've owned a Xootr Mg for a little over 3 years now. I commute to work with it, by some combination of bus, subway and Xootring.

This thing is about as fragile as a wrecking bar. I'm 6'4" and nearly 200 lbs, and I ride on a lot of brick sidewalks. The tires are a little worn down now, but other than that, it works as well as the day I unpacked it.

Once you've experienced the glide-to-kick ratio of the Xootr, you're not going to be happy with any other scooter. One section of my daily commute is along a little over a mile of bike path. It's very slightly down-hill, but looks level to the casual observer. On a bad day, it takes me five kicks to travel over a mile. One time, at a road crossing half way along the run, a jogger asked me "did I realize motorized transport was illegal on that trail?"

You've really got to ride one keeping your weight back as far as possible on the foot board, and don't depend on just the front brake for stopping. As other reviewers have observed, it doesn't take too much of a stick or crack in the pavement to bring a Xootr to a crashing halt. Staying alert at all times is the price you pay for the performance you get.

The only accessory I use is the shoulder strap, which is indispensible. Using shopping bags slung over the handlebars works fine for hauling stuff, as long as you keep your speed down on the homeward path.

Buying Razor iMod Scooter

We recieved this imod on May 10th, it is now May 25 and the relay is not working which means the imod WON"T RUN! We haven't had it that long for it to be broke and then the tires are always flat. My husband said they came with bad tubing in them because from the very first time my daughter rode the thing, the tires went flat. So, for as much money as you pay for something like this...you would think you have a little bit longer before the "breaks" come. Especially since we've only had it a couple of weeks. A large amount of assembly is required, and if you do decide to buy always keep a toolbox around because failure is inevitable. After about 3 days of use the pull cord ripped off and the chain began falling off in 5 minute intervals of riding. Then my muffler snapped at the base due to extreme overheating and exhaust.
